Rachel Shoemaker, LPC Associate

Supervised by Jenny Wang, LPC-S and Stephanie Dall, LPC-S

Rachel Shoemaker is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate and has been counseling since 2019. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with a Minor in Chemistry from Stephen F. Austin State University in 2014 and a Master’s Degree in Biblical Counseling from Dallas Theological Seminary in 2018.

Rachel has gained experience working with people of all ages and a variety of issues. Her counseling experience thus far has allowed her to work with individuals and families who have experienced anxiety, OCD, postpartum depression and anxiety, motherhood issues, body image issues, disordered eating behaviors, trauma, drug and alcohol addictions, self-esteem and identity issues, abandonment issues, and relationship issues.

During graduate school, she was also lucky enough to become a flight attendant for a major US airline, allowing her to experience many different cultures as she traveled the world. During her time as a flight attendant, she served as a Peer Support Representative, supporting fellow flight attendants emotionally after critical instances at work, providing grief support, and offering mental health prevention education, giving her a unique understanding of issues one may face in an aviation profession.

Rachel enjoys working with young adults and adults with anxiety, OCD, body image issues, self-esteem and identity issues, postpartum issues, motherhood issues, and family and relationship issues. She has a passion for walking alongside others in order to find healing and provide a safe space for each person to grow and be able to experience the fullness of life and hope.

Rachel’s goal is to create an environment where others can feel safe, be authentic, and grow in trust to promote holistic healing. She desires to listen to both the joys and heartaches that one will inevitably experience daily. Her goal is to be edifying and provide practical tools that one can use in daily life outside of the office, which allows for the opportunity of fuller, better life, and relationships with others.
